30 weeks and counting...

Dear baby girl,

I know you want out but please try to behave and stay where you are for the next 10 weeks. I hear you loudly and clear that it is getting cramped in there, but trust me that kicking, flipping and punching wont make things any more comfortable for either of us... especially at 1, 3 and 5 in the morning. I am hot and tired too, and sick of resting in bed. But we are in this together and I would be so grateful if you would just chill out with the contractions and ride this thing out with me. I promise we will have lots of time to explore the world and play with your brother. Please don't listen to his taunts to come out and play trains with him. It's not time yet. I am sorry sweetheart that you seem to have inherited your overly anxious and impatient nature from me. Try to be more laid back like your daddy. Be a good girl and we will see you soon. (but hopefully not too soon)

Buddies

A father's day inspired blog...

There has been a shift in our house over the last few months. My little mommies boy has switched teams and is all about his dad. (or his "buddy" as he refers to Matt) And even though I am still the go-to shoulder in times of scraped knees, early morning cuddles and extra needed holding, it is really nice to see that Wheeler is so excited about his daddy and to watch them play, work  and do little projects together.
One of the big ones was building Wheeler's new bike. With a Christmas birthday and no special holidays looming we went ahead and bought him a cool new tricycle simply because we felt like it... and that he is a little bit on the spoiled side.  Here are the pictures of my boys working together to assemble the bike.

Happy Fathers day to a really wonderful and patient dad. We sure love you and appreciate all that you do in our family!!!
* Incidentally, I cried when Wheeler took his first independent pedals on his new bike. It completely caught me off guard, he just seemed so big and like my little baby was completely gone and here was this big, tall, bike riding kid in his place. They sure grow up fast!

Houston Zoo

We love the Houston Zoo. It is one of our favorite family outings despite that it is much too hot to go between June and September. Here are pictures from the Devon company picnic a few weeks ago, before our hibernation season hit.

Sea lions
Meercats
Baby Elephants (that love to wrestle)

tougher than mom...
First time being brave enough for the face painting station
very proud of his froggie

 nearing nap-time = sugar fix
there we go!
Oh man I love this kid.
One last ride on the merri-go-round
and home...

So long zoo... see you in the fall.
