Winner!

Matt is one of those " I don't need a greeting card holiday to express my love" kind of guys, and so for our married life we have compromised by only celebrating Valentines day every other year.  It might seem lame to some of you, but for us it has worked (despite pouting by me on OFF years, and equal pouting by him during ON years. )
This year is an OFF Valentines day year. And rather than my usual nudging and pouting, I decided that I could still celebrate Valentines day with Wheeler. So we got heart stickers and made cards and pink frosted sugar cookies (which Murphy helped to eat)... and  low and behold this morning someone  decided to ignore the OFF year and join in on our celebration with cards and gifts of his own!
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!!
I should have guessed that the one thing Matt hates more than Valentines day is being left out.
So a very Happy Valentines Day to my funny Swan boys. I love you  both so much!
ps. as a reward for joining in on our greeting card holiday I made a marshmallow pie (Marshmallows are Wheelers favorite and Pie is matt's.) It was my first attempt, and this recipe turned out delicious!

  1. Happy Valentine's Day! Way to go, Matt. :) We hardly celebrate for ourselves anymore, but Valentine's day is so much fun with kids, don't you think? Mmmm, marshmallow pie. Never heard of it, sound delish!

  2. That's funny! Gibb is the same way about Valentine's Day. Which is kind of a good thing since this year I ditched him with the kids all day to go to Edmonton for an appointment! Marshmallow pie sounds so good, I might have to try that.

  3. Rob and I are the same...though lately I've been thinking celebrating Valentines isn't such a bad thing. So I decided to give Rob a nice gift (an hour long back massage), and lo and behold he came home with flowers for me the very next day, I think I'll celebrate every year from now on, and in turn he'll do it too.

  4. We're not huge Valentine's day celebrators around here... okay, I actually do a ton with and for the kids, but as far as romantic things for me and Christian, not so much. I just think it feels forced sometimes. I definitely prefer him doing things because he wants to, which he does, otherwise he'd be in trouble :)
