Autumn

I love the fall. It is definitely my favorite time of the year. There is so much anticipation and excitement that for me stems back to starting a new grade at school. The new classes, teachers, schedules, school supply's and back to school clothes.  And now as an adult I feel the same excitement anticipating the change in weather... bring on hoodies and jeans, and the waiting for the big holiday season to hit... making plans for Halloween costumes, 2 Thanksgiving dinners (Canadian and American of course), and starting to think about Christmas plans! I Love it!

Our Autumn so far has included a few additional plans. At the beginning of the month one of my oldest and dearest friends Lindsay came to Houston for an entire week while her husband was here for work! Such a treat, it has been way too long since college, which is the last time I spent more than a few hours visiting with Lindsay. Catching up was so fun, and watching our kids play together at the same age as we were when we met and became friends was equally nostalgic and made me feel old. Lindsay blogged about our visit better than I could, so if you are interested you can read about all our fun here. Thanks Linds! Great week!  (here are 2 pics I stole off her blog, I was too lazy to take my own!)

The following week we made a trip back home to Southern Alberta because my Grandma Leavitt passed away. It was a beautiful funeral, she would have been pleased. And despite the circumstances it was really nice to be back home and get to visit with all of my Leavitt cousins and swap stories and memories at Grandma's house. The fall up in Canada was luckily still hanging on by a thread when we got there. I don't remember the last time I have even seen a Canadian Autumn, and I forgot how pretty the tree's are. We took the time to wander around the river bottom in Lethbridge and take a few family pictures. Here are some of my favorites.

Happy Autumn to everyone! And a special happy 30th birthday wish to Matt this past month... who only gets more handsome, hilarious, and wonderful every year he ages.
