Disobeying Doctors orders.

A week before our annual trip up to Echo lake my doctor slapped me with bed-rest. "What about prudent travel?" I asked. Absolutely not was her response, so I thanked her politely, got off my feet for a few days... then boarded a flight to Montana anyway. I love my doctor, but I love my family more... and given the choice of laying in bed alone in the Texas heat or laying by a beautiful lake watching my 2 year old tease his cousins and my husband break in his new slalom ski, I will take the second 100% of the time even if it means the off chance of delivering a baby on an airplane somewhere above the Rocky Mountains. (ironically enough the lady sitting behind me on the way there was a labor and delivery nurse, so I felt pretty smug about my decision)
We had a great 10 days at the cabin. My siblings are awesome and it was great to relax with them and their families. My parents were accommodating and anxious for us to have a fun trip as always... which was no small feat this year since we all came right in the middle of their expansion. Leaving them to simultaneously deal with 5 needy grand-kids, 2 pregnant daughters, and various crews of contractors working around our party. A huge thanks to mom and dad!
We took an obscene amount of pictures during our vacation. I will include only the family ones on this post and do a follow up post of the pretty wildlife pictures we captured during hikes and sitting on the patio. I love Echo lake!
ON THE LAKE

Wheeler loved the old blue boat and was never far away when his daddy was skiing. Anytime Matt would fall or let go he would wave the safety flag, lean over the edge and yell "YOU OK DAD?!???" over and over until Matt would respond that he was fine.

4th OF JULY PARADE

Austin was much happier after the candy starting flowing and the weird lady with the camera left him alone.

Feeding my big fat belly and reminding Wheeler not to eat the squished melted candy on the road. I am such an awesome multi-tasker!

 "BIG FORK" parade. (get it?)

PLAY/ PARTY TIME
(We celebrated Wesley's & Annika's birthday's and they had a surprise baby shower for me!)

Old man.

Very excited about opening presents for his sister.

HIKING (no I didn't go...)

 Milking a scraped knee.

My favorite picture of the trip. Watching Matt and Wheeler sit together and fish off the dock was worth every contraction and disobeying doctors orders!

  2. Ah, I love that place. I DID obey my doctor's orders, so I am in Houston in stead of at Echo with my family right now. And I feel great, of course. But I'm trying to play it really safe with the twins, so it is all worth it in the end, right? So glad you had such a fantastic trip.
